We’re very pleased to announce that our latest Space:1999 graphic novel reprint collection, Aftershock and Awe, is now available to pre-order from the Official Gerry Anderson Store!
First published in 2012 by Archaia Press, this groundbreaking retro-reintroduction to the sci-fi hit series from the early 1970s begins with Awe – an adaption of Space: 1999’s pilot episode, Breakaway. Now expanded to include both new and unfilmed material, this revolutionary retelling of a sci-fi classic is illustrated with the remastered art of comics legend Gray Morrow and the great Neal Adams’ own Continuity Studios.
The story continues in Aftershock as nine lives are forever changed by the carnage left in the Moon’s wake. Aftershock explores the scientific, environmental and social political repercussions of a world left with no Moon, from a number of viewpoints around the Space:1999 universe. This edition of Aftershock & Awe also includes a never-before-seen look at BLAM! Ventures’ unproduced follow up comic series, Mission: Alpha!
Long out of print, we’re delighted to bring these two stories back to Space:1999 fans in a new 168 page hardback volume collecting the entire Aftershock and Awe saga, in an epic reimagining of the show’s first episode and its aftermath – both short and long-term. Across the two stories you’ll also get to spend time with characters who appeared briefly on screen, including Guido Verdeschi, Shermeen Williams, and even the personnel of the International Lunar Commission previously only seen in new linking material shot for the 1979 Space:1999 compilation movie Alien Attack.
Aftershock and Awe follows our previous re-release of To Everything That Was, another Space:1999 graphic novel from Archaia Press that took strips from both the Look-in magazine and the Space:1999 comics released by Charlton (both from the 1970s) and revised them to create a bridge between the two very different seasons of the show. As many of you have reminded us, our estimated dispatch date of mid-April for To Everything That Was proved to be two and a half months premature – unfortunately due to production delays beyond our control. We’re very sorry it’s taken longer than expected to get To Everything That Was to you, but you’ll be happy to hear that the finished books are now in the UK and will begin shipping from our warehouse next week!
You can now pre-order Space:1999 Aftershock and Awe from the Official Gerry Anderson Store for a special reduced price of £27.99, before the book returns to full price at the end of next week.
