This exciting model kit is perfect for medium to advanced modellers and allows you to construct your very own authentically designed model of Fireball XL5. Originally designed by special effects master Derek Meddings and art director Reg Hill, Fireball XL5 remains one of the most iconic vehicles from the worlds of Gerry Anderson. The classic 1962 sci-fi Supermarionation series was a pivotal early success in Gerry’s puppetry career, laying the foundations for what would follow with the likes of Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons.
After pursuing science fiction with 1960’s Supercar, Fireball XL5 propelled Gerry and Sylvia Anderson into the space race with memorable protagonist Steve Zodiac in command of Fireball XL5, flagship vessel of the World Space Patrol. The craft’s imaginative adventures were brought to life with stunning state-of-the-art special effects that continually pushed the boundaries of what AP Films were capable of achieving.
The model is scaled at 1:288 and comes with decals and 33 resin pieces for you to assemble. The model kit also comes with a launch sled and a clear vacuform canopy, as well as an instruction booklet that guides you through assembly and painting of the model. The Fireball Junior section of the model can also be detached, allowing you to relive your favourite interplanetary missions as part of the World Space Patrol!
