5 Reasons You Should Discover Stingray: Deadly Uprising - The Gerry Anderson Store

Stand by for the deadly uprising! With the release of Stingray Comic Anthology Volume 2: Battle Lines earlier this month, all four unique instalments in our epic trans-media narrative, Stingray: Deadly Uprising, are available for you to enjoy!

Produced to celebrate last year's 60th anniversary of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's landmark underwater Supermarionation series, Stingray: Deadly Uprising tells a brand new interconnected Stingray adventure spanning audio performances, novels and comics. Set within the world of the classic series, Deadly Uprising sees Titan hatch a deviously ambitious scheme to unite many underwater races to launch a devastating assault against Marineville. A mixture of new and returning aliens give Titan more than he bargained for, while the World Aquanaut Security Patrol must counter this rising threat and grapple with the possible redundancy of Stingray itself as the WASPs unveil its latest vessel to stop Titan's oncoming storm.

Now that the complete saga can be enjoyed, we're counting down several reasons why you should discover Stingray: Deadly Uprising!

5. Brand new adventures

Stingray: Deadly Uprising marks the first instance of brand new adventures being produced for Stingray since the 1970s. The four main instalments of the saga consist of two novels and two sets of comic strip adventures, to be read in the following order: The Titanican Stratagem, Tales from the Depths, Project Orca and Battle Lines. These adventures tell wonderfully authentic stories that expand upon key characters and events from the classic series.

You can dip in and out of the saga with each story, but each individual adventure builds on the thrilling momentum of Titan's masterplan and Stingray's counter offensive taking shape, each side trying to stay one step ahead of the other, culminating in a final decisive battle between terranean and subterranean forces.

Deadly Concerto serves as the prequel to the multi-platform saga, which can be enjoyed as part of our Stand By for Action! 2: Tunes of Danger concert, which is now available on DVD, Blu-Ray and CD

4. Compelling characters

Several classic characters receive welcome expansions throughout these new adventures. The WASP's mute underwater heroine Marina is a vital character in Chris Dale's novel, The Titanican Stratagem, an empathetic and reassuring presence for new character, security officer Lieutenant Coral. Elsewhere in the novel, we dive deep into X-20's morality as he questions his loyalty to Titan's ravenous warmongering. He also plays a crucial role in Bob Ayres' Project Orca.

A cluster of new underwater civilisations and creatures are featured throughout the saga. James Swallow and Matt Brooker's The Undefeated is a particular highlight from Tales from the Depths, revealing the true fate that befell the Solarstar people in the wake of their destruction from the classic series episode The Big Gun. Elsewhere, Ben Page and Keith Burns' Warning Below the Waves introduces a new, powerful race for Titan and WASP to contend with.

Can they be trusted by either Titan or the WASPs? Whose side will they be on?

3. Stunning artwork

Stingray Comic Anthology Volume One – Tales from the Depths - The Gerry Anderson Store

10 brand new comic strips form part of the Deadly Uprising saga, all of them illustrated by a brilliant array of industry talent. The new comics are featured within the pages of both Stingray Comic Anthologies, nestled against classic comic strip material from the pages of TV Century 21, Countdown and Lady Penelope, illustrated by Ron Embleton, Michael Strand and Rab Hamilton.

Among the newer talent illustrating these incredible new adventures are Brian Williamson, Matt Brooker, Lee Sullivan, Keith Burns, John McCrea, Neil Roberts, and Simon Fraser. All of them bring these captivating new comic strip adventures to life in stunning form, with each comic story pulling the Deadly Uprising saga into unpredictably exciting directions.

2. Ground-breaking format

Not only does Deadly Uprising consist of new Stingray adventures for the first time in decades, but its multi-platform format is the first of its kind for the classic series. Deadly Uprising's trans-media format allows for a prolonged saga to be told across several cohesive chapters, boasting an epic story that's not confined to a single release.

The saga is complimented by the Marine Minutes, an ongoing series of brief, interstitial online mini-stories set within the larger stories of the overall adventure. The Marine Minutes blend classic series footage with new effects and are performed by an all-star cast, including Marc Silk as Captain Troy Tempest, Wayne Forester as Lieutenant Phones and X-20, Jules de Jongh as Atlanta, and Nicholas Briggs as Titan.

1. The end of Stingray?

Titan's allyship with several fearsome underwater enemies necessitates the construction of a new warship for the WASPs - the Orca. What the Orca lacks in Stingray's agility, it easily outclasses Stingray in sheer firepower. If that's not enough to jeopardise Troy and Phones' future, any number of dramatic scenes throughout the Deadly Uprising saga are shown to throw Stingray's existence into peril.

What happens when the craft falls into the clutches of a pair of familiar faces during the events of The Titanican Stratagem? Does the super-sub survive its encounter with the deadly Gamarus' destructive tyrant wave device in Voyage to Danger, which ends Tales from the Depths on a startling cliffhanger? Stingray's survival is on a knife edge throughout the entire Deadly Uprising saga!

Discover this thrilling multi-media adventure that catapults one of Gerry Anderson's greatest series into an exciting new saga! All four major releases in the saga are available to buy from the Official Gerry Anderson store. You can discover more about Stingray: Deadly Uprising by heading over to its official mini-website.
