Supercar Coming to Talking Pictures TV - The Gerry Anderson Store

Full boost vertical, Anderfans - Supercar is coming to Talking Pictures TV this April!

Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's early classic sci-fi adventure series from 1961-62 is the latest Anderson series to find a new home on the much-loved archive TV channel. Supercar's Talking Pictures debut follows on from Fireball XL5, Thunderbirds, Stingray and Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons.

Supercar was AP Films/Century 21 Productions' first leap into producing science fiction, and was their second fully original puppet TV series after the fantasy Western, Four Feather Falls, following on from creating The Adventures of Twizzle and Torchy the Battery Boy for children's author, Roberta Leigh. Although Four Feather Falls was the first Anderson production to utilise advanced electronic puppetry techniques, Supercar was the first of Gerry Anderson's TV series to be branded as being 'filmed in Supermarionation'.

Supercar follows the adventures of daredevil pilot Mike Mercury and the Supercar crew, who live and operate out of Black Rock Laboratory, the home of Supercar itself, a fantastic feat of mobile engineering, capable of traversing any kind of terrain. Together with Professor Popkiss, Doctor Beaker, young Jimmy and Mitch the Monkey, the Supercar gang enjoy many adventures to far-flung countries across the skies and beneath the oceans, often lending their heroic services to save anyone in peril.

With its adventuresome premise, amusingly quirky characters and spectacular special effects, Supercar remains one of Gerry Anderson's most delightfully watchable television series, and is an early gem in the Supermarionation body of work.

Supercar begins its Talking Pictures TV run on Saturday, April 26th at 10AM! Be sure to charge your engines and bring plenty of peanuts to see the marvel of the age in action! Discover how there's plenty to enjoy in Supercar's winning characters in our recent blog post!

I love TPTV! It’s reinvigorated my love of the Anderverse. Even though I have some series’ on disc, I like rewatching them on TPTV and knowing that my fellow Anderfans are also watching simultaneously elsewhere. Also, if not for TPTV, I might never have discovered my now beloved SPACE PATROL, whose master-tapes were lost before I was even born… and which I’ve since bought on disc from Anderson Entertainment! 🚀🚀🚀
