Captain Scarlet News Bonanza!
It’s a thrilling time to be a fan of Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, with plenty to get excited about in this 50th Anniversary year.
Along with the hotly anticipated limited edition audio box set featuring five original 1960’s mini albums, eight stories adapted from televised stories and a brand new anniversary documentary, there are also three Spectrum Files enhanced audio books for fans to enjoy. There’s also the upcoming Captain Scarlet The Vault and the man in red himself will be in London this weekend, it’s a real Captain Scarlet news bonanza!
The Spectrum Files – Finding The Voices
Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons featured a memorable and much-loved cast of characters, voiced by iconic artists, many of whom are no longer with us. Finding the right actors to voice the characters in the Spectrum Files audio books was crucial.
Thankfully, Liz Morgan, best known to Scarlet fans for her portrayal of Destiny, Rhapsody and Harmony Angels will be reprising these roles, plus the other female characters in the stories. Wayne Forester, who voiced Captain Scarlet himself in Gerry Anderson’s New Captain Scarlet is taking on the title character, his fellow Spectrum operatives, and the male guest voices in the stories.
Have a look at how Wayne and Liz recreated the classic roles from the 1967 classic!
When these stories are released, it will be like stepping back into 1967 all over again, even if you weren’t there the first time, and that’s certainly SIG! To get the low down on the Spectrum Files, and see the fabulous cover artwork for the first story, check out our previous article.
Captain Scarlet: The Vault
Following 2015’s hugely successful in-depth book Thunderbirds: The Vault by Marcus Hearn, author Chris Bentley has written Captain Scarlet: The Vault, which will be available later in the year. The lavishly assembled guide to the series features painstakingly researched material, rare photographs and promises to be a joy for all fans of Captain Scarlet and Gerry Anderson’s other Supermarionation productions! We’ll have more news on this very special book soon, including an interview with author Chris Bentley!
Captain Scarlet at London Film & Comic Con
And rounding of the Spectrum news (for now at least!) Captain Scarlet (or rather, a life-size cardboard cutout version) will be appearing at London Film & Comic Con from 28th to 30th July at the Gerry Anderson Store’s table. Why not drop by and get your photo taken with Spectrum’s finest officer? And if you happen to be cosplaying as a Gerry Anderson character, you might just receive a free gift while you’re there!
