The Space: 1999 theatrical double-bill sees these two fan-favourite episodes restored in stunning 4K and 5.1 Dolby surround sound, presenting both adventures in breath-taking picture quality and newly mixed audio. The presentation brings together the Moon’s catastrophic departure from Earth and Mentor’s sinister plans for his dying planet.
Space: 1999's opening episode, Breakaway, thrusts viewers into a universe of cosmic catastrophe when a grim chain of events builds up to a nuclear explosion which propels the Moon away from the Earth and begins an epic odyssey for the 311 men and women of Moonbase Alpha across the stars. Breakaway begins one of science fiction's most imaginative journeys as Moonbase Alpha's flight across the stars leads to many fantastic encounters with powerful aliens, surreal phenomena and more.
In the second series' debut episode, The Metamorph, the Alphans experience one of their deadliest alien encounters when the intelligent yet psychotic Mentor plots to hijack the minds of the Alphans to rejuvenate his dying home world. Can Mentor's extraordinary daughter, the shape-shifting Maya, rescue the Alphans before they become lobotomised? The Metamorph signals a renewed beginning for Space: 1999 with a greater emphasis on electrifying action and adventure in outer space.
Together, these two episodes celebrate the scale, imagination and enduring legacy of one of television's greatest science fiction series. Check the cinema listings for any remaining screenings and current booking availability.
Archive note: the special Picturehouse Central Q&A screening was scheduled for 13 September 2026. That date has passed; use the cinema listing linked above for other screenings and booking availability.

Hopefully this will be a huge success in the UK and then do the same in the US.
