5, 4, 3, 2, 1... International Rescue is still go! Over 60 years since the heroic adventures of the life-saving Tracy family blasted off into action, Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's Thunderbirds continues to command its centrepiece status as a definitive entry in science fiction television. Beginning last year, in celebration of Thunderbirds' 60th anniversary, Anderson Entertainment has been marking the landmark anniversary with a veritable swarm of ongoing releases across home entertainment, events, publishing, collectable models, and more, all of which champion the selfless heroism and visual ingenuity of what many consider to be Gerry and Sylvia's most iconic creation.

Let's have a recap of how the anniversary celebrations have occurred so far - and what may occur next for Thunderbirds!

Colossal & Compact Collectable Models

Some of our earliest celebrations of Thunderbirds' 60th began with numerous ongoing ranges of collectable models of the classic International Rescue craft. Corgi's FAB Collection presents their previously released Thunderbirds 1-4 and FAB 1 with more screen-accurate colour schemes and toolings, along with a brand new larger size Thunderbird 4 and a brand new Thunderbird 5 with docking capabilities of their partially redesigned Thunderbird 3! These die-cast models boast brightly captured colour schemes, screen-accurate decals and intricate detailing that brings Derek Meddings' ingenious designs to life.

Two further separate lines of models have blasted off from Anderson Entertainment: the premium die-cast collectables and the Anniversary Edition models. The limited edition premium die-cast collectables cover beloved vehicles from across the worlds of Anderson, and have so far seen the release of Thunderbird 2, Thunderbird 4, Thunderbird 4 and currently up for pre-order, Thunderbird 3. These large-scale models deliver the definitive representation of the Thunderbirds vehicles in collectable form, unparalleled in their visual and design ambition to serve as the ultimate Thunderbirds for your collection.

At the other end of the size scale, the Anniversary Edition models prioritise a far more compact sized take on the Thunderbirds without loosing any of that intricate craftsmanship. All five Thunderbird machines are represented in the Anniversary Edition line and boast intensely weathered detailing and darker colour schemes which evoke the heavy duty functionality of the International Rescue fleet.

Classic Adventures in Breath-taking High Definition

A centrepiece release in our celebrations was the much-anticipated and brilliantly received Thunderbirds 60th Anniversary Collectors Edition Blu-ray boxset. This spectacular collection of the classic series brings Thunderbirds to life like never before, fully remastered and restored from original film elements, and crammed with archive and newly produced bonus features. All 32 episodes are presented in their original 4:3 aspect ratio and with the option of original mono or restored 5.1 soundtracks. The boxset also boasts a sprawling line-up of brand-new documentaries and archive behind-the-scenes features, all of which uplift the story of Thunderbirds' creation and long-lasting popularity.

Our high-definition releases of Thunderbirds expand into the Super Space Theatre collectors edition blu-ray and the 4K steelbook release of Trapped in the Sky and Terror in New York City. This extensively restored pair of fan-favourite episodes also toured the United Kingdom when Thunderbirds returned to the cinema in late 2025. Playing to over 200 cinemas, our screening of these 4K restorations was rapturously received by fans, with many of you telling us of your wondrous experiences in seeing these classic episodes on the big screen.

Classic Comic Strips & Secret Dossiers

Away from the classic series, we've also been celebrating Thunderbirds' 60th anniversary with two expansive hardbacks collecting all of Thunderbirds' classic comic strip adventures from the pages of TV Century 21. The first two volumes of the Thunderbirds Comic Anthologies come with painstakingly restored artwork, extensive behind-the-scenes features and creator biographies. They present all of Thunderbirds' 1960s comic adventures from TV21 in chronological order for the very first time. 

The imminent release of the Thunderbirds IR Technical Operations Manual promises to reveal all of the mechanical and operational secrets of International Rescue that you've always wondered about. Packed with amazingly detailed schematics of International Rescue's vehicles, technology and in-depth case studies of the characters and danger zones undertaken by the outfit, the Thunderbirds IR Technical Operations Manual serves as the ultimate in-universe companion to the series.

The Second Countdown

You needn't think that our celebrations of Thunderbirds have now drawn to an end - quite the opposite! As 2026 continues, Thunderbirds continues to receive an abundance of care and dedication from Anderson Entertainment, with further exciting releases on the horizon. Die-cast models, classic comic anthologies and more are planned for the coming months, including newly restored episodes in 4K. 

As revealed on our recent Thunderbird 3 Limited Edition Collectable livestream, two further classic Thunderbirds episodes are undergoing the 4K treatment - Attack of the Alligators! and Atlantic Inferno. Not only will these be available in their upcoming 4K steelbook, these episodes will be undertaking their own cinema tour across the UK. More details will be announced soon!

The second major upcoming milestone in our celebration of Thunderbirds consists of the forthcoming multimedia narrative experience, Thunderbirds: Hidden Dangers. This upcoming series tells brand-new adventures of Thunderbirds via comics, short stories and beyond, all set within the world of the classic series. Created by a host of fantastic writers, artists and editors, the stories of Hidden Dangers expand on key events throughout the Thunderbirds canon, situated before, during, or after classic TV episodes.
