Thunderbirds Comic Anthologies: Volume One or Volume Two?

The two Thunderbirds Comic Anthologies cover successive parts of the classic TV Century 21 run. If you are starting the collection, begin with Volume One. If you already have it, Volume Two continues the Thunderbirds adventures from early 1967 through 1969.

Start with Volume One

Volume One collects the Lady Penelope strips illustrated by Eric Eden, followed by the first eight Thunderbirds adventures. The Lady Penelope stories introduce her partnership with Parker before International Rescue’s comic missions begin.

Alongside the restored comics, the volume includes features by Fred McNamara, with restoration and layout by Robert Hammond. It is a 296-page hardcover measuring 304 × 228 mm.

Continue with Volume Two

Volume Two collects the final 21 Thunderbirds adventures from TV Century 21, spanning 1967–1969. Stories include The Earthquake Maker, Brains is Dead and Danger in the Deep, with Frank Bellamy’s artwork restored for the collection.

Its accompanying features cover the strip’s publication history and creators, and include details of an unpublished David Motton Thunderbirds story. This is a 248-page hardcover in the same 304 × 228 mm format.

Do the volumes repeat the same stories?

They cover successive parts of the TV Century 21 material rather than offering two editions of the same selection. Together, they collect the Thunderbirds strip adventures from the original comic in chronological order. This does not mean they contain every Thunderbirds comic ever published, or every strip and feature from every issue of TV Century 21.

Which should you buy as a gift?

If the reader has neither volume and enjoys following a series from the beginning, Volume One is the natural starting point. For someone who already owns it, Volume Two continues the collection. Check their bookshelf before ordering.

Both volumes were £37.99 each when checked on 9 September 2026. They are separate products; follow the links for current prices and availability.
