Everything You Need to Know About our Thunderbirds 4K Restoration Double-Bill

Thunderbirds is heading back to the big screen! Anderson Entertainment and Kaleidoscope Entertainment are bringing you a fantastic double-bill of two classic Thunderbirds episodes - Trapped in the Sky and Terror in New York City. Both of these fan-favourite episodes have been restored in spectacular 4K ultra-high definition and newly mixed 5.1 surround sound, giving you the chance to experience Thunderbirds like never before.

Since our announcement of this double-bill, we've received plenty of questions asking after various aspects about the screening, so here's a handy guide detailing everything you need to know about our forthcoming Thunderbirds 4K restoration double-bill.

This double-bill is occurring only throughout the UK, but overseas fans can still enjoy these restored episodes on our forthcoming Thunderbirds 4K/UHD steelbook. Most venues are hosting the screening for one day, 20th September, though dates vary for certain other venues. Odeon Cinemas in particular will be screening this double bill on both Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 21st of September.

This is a screening of two classic episodes, rather than either of the 1960s Thunderbirds films - Thunderbirds Are Go and Thunderbird 6.

You can check out out ever-growing list of cinemas so far confirmed to be taking part in this fantastic event. If you're not seeing a cinema that's near you, why not get in touch with your local venue and let them know that you'd love to see Thunderbirds! While we're offering Thunderbirds cinemas across the UK, and have so far received a rapturous response, it's ultimately down to the venue in question if they wish to screen the double-bill or not. They're only likely to do so if they know there's the demand.

While the forthcoming screening, accompanying 4K/UHD steelbook double release and full series Blu-ray allow you a fantastic variety of ways to experience Thunderbirds in breath-taking HD, we don't have any current plans to release the full series in 4K. Fully restoring all 32 episodes in 4K would be extremely costly and would take more than a year. While we remain open to the possibility and will continue to investigate options and opportunities, for now, the Thunderbirds Collectors Edition Blu-ray is the best possible way of experiencing the entire series in HD.

Enjoying these two particular episodes in spectacular 4K makes the cinema screening all the more a unique and exciting event that's not to be missed, but fans will also have the opportunity to watch these restored episodes further with our forthcoming limited edition steelbook release of Trapped in the Sky and Terror in New York City, which will be available to buy later this year.
