Thunderbirds Super-Fan Scarlett Moffatt Leads Brand New Celebratory Mini-Series - The Gerry Anderson Store

Sixty years after Thunderbirds blasted off on TV screens, Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's iconic Supermarionation series is being celebrated with a fresh celebratory look at its enduring legacy.

Self-confessed Thunderbirds super-fan Scarlett Moffatt is presenting a brand new online mini-series that looks beyond the strings and steps into the world of International Rescue. Scarlett will be speaking to the people who know the show best and uncovering untold stories from the past six decades, all about Thunderbirds.

Across a series of special conversations, Scarlett will be chatting to Dee Anderson, daughter of creators Sylvia and Gerry Anderson, sharing what it was really like growing up in the household that built Thunderbirds; Jamie Anderson, son of Gerry Anderson, reflecting on how the Thunderbirds legacy continues to inspire today; Anthea Turner, revisiting the 1990s’ most famous Blue Peter moment: making a Tracy Island model that went viral before viral was even a thing; and Mary Turner, one of the original puppeteers, lifting the lid on the craft and magic of Supermarionation.

Scarlett Moffatt has a long-lasting love of Thunderbirds: “I’ve adored Thunderbirds since I was little, so this has been a real bucket-list moment. To go behind the strings and discover the secrets from the people who made it happen was FAB in every sense.”

The special mini-series will be released from mid-October across ITVX, ITV Retro on YouTube, and Thunderbirds' official social media channels. Stand by for anniversary action!
