Which Space: 1999 Book Is Right for You?

A making-of book, a Moonbase manual and a comic anthology offer three different ways to return to Space: 1999. Choose according to what you want to discover: how the series was made, how Alpha works within its fictional world, or more illustrated adventures.

For the making of the series: All Sections Alpha

All Sections Alpha: The Making of Space: 1999 expands Tim Heald’s original book with Fred McNamara’s critical guide to all 48 episodes and coverage of novels, comics and audio adventures. This is the choice for a reader interested in the programme’s production and its wider creative history.

The hardcover has 344 pages and measures 304 × 228 mm. UK price checked on 9 September 2026: £27.99.

For exploring Moonbase: Technical Operations Manual

The Moonbase Alpha Technical Operations Manual is an in-universe guide to Alpha’s structures, vehicles, locations and operations. It includes more than 250 new illustrations by Chris Thompson, making it a different reading experience from a production history.

The 272-page book measures 300 × 230 × 25 mm. The currently listed edition was £37.99 when checked. Follow the product page for the edition available to order.

For illustrated adventures: Comic Anthology

The Space: 1999 Comic Anthology collects the Space: 1999 strips, stories and features from Look-in, with background articles and interviews. It also includes an overview of The Worlds of Gerry Anderson, Starcruiser and Terrahawks. Choose it for comic storytelling and its publishing context.

The hardcover has 320 pages and measures 304 × 228 mm. UK price checked: £24.49.

Want to create your own adventures?

The Space: 1999 Roleplaying Game is a separate option for tabletop play. Its 299-page rulebook contains character creation, basic and advanced rules, resources for the gamesmaster and background on Moonbase Alpha.

The rulebook-only option was £44.99; the rulebook-and-dice option was £49.99. Choose the appropriate variant on the product page: dice are not included with the rulebook-only option.
