After Gerry Anderson’s funeral in January 2013 his family began the difficult task of sorting his possessions. They were expecting to find a small number of scripts, synopses, and other work related items. What they discovered truly shocked and surprised them!
Full of Surprises
Despite being well known for his lack of nostalgia, Mary and Jamie Anderson discovered hundreds of photos that had been kept stored away in a wooden chest at the family home. The photos included many photos from Gerry’s early life and career, behind the scenes and private photos from everything from Supercar to Thunderbirds, and Stingray to Space Precinct.
The photographs provided a fascinating insight into the life of a man who had an incredible career, and an extraordinary life.
Covering Every Decade
The book has been split into decades – covering everything from Gerry’s childhood, through the success of the AP Films and Century 21 days, right through to his final years of work on New Captain Scarlet, and his work raising awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The vast majority of the photographs will not have been seen before, and so provide an exciting and candid look into the great man’s life and work.
A Life In Pictures
The book is presented as a beautiful full colour hardback featuring 140 pages and hundreds of previously unpublished images. It’s available for pre-order at the Gerry Anderson online shop, and will be released at the end of June 2014.
