On Saturday 27th October a very special event was held at MCM Comic Con London: The Gerry Anderson’s Firestorm Premiere!
Cast and crew gathered (both on and off stage) to present the story of Firestorm’s genesis, plus show the pilot minisode to a crowd of over 600 people on the centre stage at the event.
Steve Begg (Director and FX Supervisor), Mike Tucker (Miniature FX Supervisor), Jamie Anderson (Producer), Andrew James Spooner (Puppet Co-ordinator), Mikey Brett, Tony Lymboura, Lesa Gillespie and Tim Cherry Jones (puppeteers) were joined by voice actors Nick Briggs (REMUS), Gethin Anthony (Sam Scott) and Naoko Mori (Nagisa Kisaragi) for a 45 minute panel session, followed by the minisode screening (which you can watch below) and a Q&A session.
The puppeteering team stole the show when Sam Scott joined his vocal counterpart Gethin Anthony, and the two enjoyed a short conversation about who had the better hair… and voice.
The minisode itself enjoyed a fantastic response and rapturous applause from the audience, which was followed by a long list of questions for the panel, and fans gathered outside to give their reactions.
At the time of writing, the pilot minisode has been viewed in excess of 250,000 times, and the whole team has been absolutely thrilled with the reaction from fans all over the world.
The icing on the cake for all those attending came in the form of an announcement from producer Jamie Anderson that a full series of 26 commercial half-hour episodes is now in pre-production with production due to begin in 2019!
Stand by for further announcements. A storm is coming!
