The incredible International Rescue team have pulled off another extraordinary mission, saving the lives of 20 personnel at the Langstrom Oil Refinery in Canada.
The dramatic scenes unfolded late last night, after an explosion rocked the complex in the early hours of Friday morning, causing widespread damage and a series of uncontrolled fires.
The Langstrom refinery, a primary producer of volatile aviation fuel has been operating without any incidents since its commissioning almost five years ago. Conventional rescue efforts by local emergency services were hampered by the scale of the blaze combined with the intense heat.
Chief Saucier, commander of the rescue effort later said “It was a real inferno! We just couldn’t get near to where those folks were trapped. It was a relief to see the International Rescue aircraft appearing on the horizon.”
It seems that some sort of drilling machine was used to tunnel into the control center in which the trapped personnel had taken refuge.
As International Rescue were returning to the surface a large explosion cut off radio communications with their craft. However, moments later they emerged unscathed and the refinery personnel were taken for medical attention.
Once again through these columns we thank International Rescue for their tireless and outstanding work!
