Bonhams auction house have recently advertised that an original studio-used Lady Penelope puppet is up for sale. Penelope is Lot 127 in an Entertainment Memorabilia being held on 24th June 2015 at 12:00pm BST Bonhams’ London, Knightsbridge saleroom.
The item is listed as “an original AP Films / Century 21 productions puppet; comprising original Thunderbirds series head, the neck mechanism has been replaced, earlier neck rod has been kept separately; with later AP Films / Century 21 production body, limbs and later dress (source unknown), puppet approximately 21 inches (53.5cm.) high.”
John Brown, Terry Curtis and Wanda Brown who worked with the puppet department of Century 21 have had a part in cataloging this lot which features a number of curious alterations including what are suspected to be hands originally belong to the Angels of Captain Scarlet. Penelope does, however, still possesses her original head, hair and other body parts which are recognisable as being used on many of the AP Films/Century 21 puppets.
With Thunderbirds in its 50th Anniversary year, this is a chance for someone to make Lady Penelope the pride of their collection for an estimated price of £15,000-20,000.
