Space 1999 Live Stream Announced for Breakaway Day

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Space: 1999’s Breakaway Day, Shout! Factory TV will hold a two-day Space 1999 Live Stream marathon of the landmark sci-fi series created by Gerry Anderson. Breakaway Day celebrates the day in series lore (September 13, 1999) in which the moon broke free from the earth.

The marathon comes complete with fantastic bonus features, including interviews with director Kevin Connor, actors Barbara Bain and Nick Tate, and author John Muir, and can be viewed on ShoutFactoryTVLive.com; Shout! Factory TV’s Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, and Android apps; and the following digital streaming platforms: Twitch, Samsung TV Plus, Xumo, and STIRR.

The Space:1999 Breakaway Day marathon joins the slate of Shout! Factory TV’s Saturn Awards Week, a showcase of Saturn Award-winning and nominated films, television series, and talent, leading up to the 45th Annual Saturn Awards show streaming globally on Friday the 13th of September (6pm / 9pm EST). As part of the celebration, Shout! Factory TV has been livestreaming a week’s worth of cult sci-fi, horror, action, and fantasy films and TV shows that have defined the genre over the years, including Saturn Awards-nominee Space 1999.

September 1999: A nuclear waste dump on the lunar surface unexpectedly detonates, blasting the moon out of Earth’s orbit and taking the inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha on an unbelievable voyage of discovery and adventure. Under the command of John Koenig (Martin Landau), the Alphans hurtle through the stars, encountering fantastic worlds and beings in a universe where peril awaits at every turn. Together, Koenig and the Alphans face the ultimate challenge in the farthest reaches of space: survive…and find home.

Also starring Barbara Bain as Dr. Helena Russell, Barry Morse as Victor Bergman, and Catherine Schell as Maya, Space: 1999 is a true classic of science fiction television, presented here with a galaxy’s worth of special features that fans and newcomers alike will treasure. Strap yourselves in — the journey of a lifetime is about to begin!

Space: 1999 is also available for viewing on demand in its entirety on ShoutFactoryTV.com; Shout! Factory TV’s Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, and Android apps; and on various Shout! Factory TV branded channels including Tubi TV, Amazon Prime Channels, and the Roku Channel.

Also to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the moon breaking out of Earth’s orbit, the Gerry Anderson store has released a special range of apparel including an exclusive time-limited edition Breakaway t-shirt which is only available until 23:59 BST on 15th September 2019.
