Gerry Anderson news roundup – immediate launch!
This week’s edition of the Gerry Anderson Podcast launched on Monday, and featured the first 15 minutes of our upcoming Captain Scarlet audiobook Martian Menace! Performed by Wayne Forester, this new 75-minute production is an adaptation of a Captain Scarlet story from the pages of the original TV21 comic of the 1960s – and will soon be available to pre-order on CD or download! If you missed this week’s episode you can catch it (and all other previous episodes) either through our website or via your podcast platform of choice.
Also new this week over on the Gerry Anderson Randomiser Podcast (also available on all podcast platforms) New Captain Scarlet and co faced the possibility of dissent within the Mysterons ranks, in the episode The Achilles Messenger!
On Wednesday this week’s FAB Fact video took a turn towards the world of fashion, to discover what the shoes of the Supermarionation puppets were made of! Do you know? Watch the video to find out!
Now available for pre-order from the Official Gerry Anderson store is the Space:1999 graphic novel Aftershock and Awe, a reprint collection of two comics stories that have been out of print for a decade. Taking a new look at the show’s first episode Breakaway, the collection also focuses on events on Earth during the events of that story – and its immediate aftermath. Aftershock and Awe is now available to pre-order (at a special reduced price for the next week only!) with shipping currently expected in August.
And for those still awaiting their copies of the previous Space:1999 collection To Everything That Was, we’re very sorry for the delay in getting it to you! Production problems have delayed manufacturing, but now the stock is finally in the UK – and will be shipping this week!
This week saw the first recording of the Gerry Anderson Podcast from its new studio at the Thunderbirds-themed Moxy hotel in Slough! You can still enjoy the Podcast on audio, but if you fancy watching along – and seeing Jamie, Richard, Chris and guests live on camera – you’ll now have that option too from Monday!
Were you at the live podcast recording at BritSciFi event a few weeks ago? If so, you’ll have seen a live performance of the recently rediscovered Four Feather Falls episode Dusty’s Day – and if you didn’t (or are mad enough to want to see it again!) you can now view the performance in its entirety on the Official Gerry Anderson YouTube channel!
Also new this week on our YouTube channel is a short video in which performers Andrew Dawson and Gavin Robertson look back on the development of the classic stage production Thunderbirds: FAB!
If you’re in the UK, you might be interested to learn that our own Jamie Anderson will appearing on tomorrow’s episode of The Footage Detectives, at 5pm on the channel Talking Pictures TV, to discuss the channel’s recent screenings of Fireball XL5!
Celebrating a birthday this week was Terrahawks and New Captain Scarlet voice artist Jeremy Hitchen (June 29th), while popular episodes that first aired in the UK this week in years past include Stingray‘s series finale Aquanaut of the Year (June 27th 1965), Terrahawks‘ Space Samurai (June 28th 1986) and Space Precinct’s Flash (July 1st 1995).
That’s all we have for this week – see you for more next weekend!
