It’s been another action-packed seven days in our corner of the Anderson universe – here’s all the things you need to know!
This week’s edition of the Gerry Anderson Podcast included as its special feature a complete adventure from the pages of Stellar Patrol, a short story anthology now available from the Official Gerry Anderson Store written by Richard James based on Gerry Anderson and Freiberger’s unproduced television concept IGR4 (or Intergalactic Rescue 4). If you missed this week’s episode you can catch it (and all other previous episodes) either through our website or via your podcast platform of choice!
Also new this week over on the Gerry Anderson Randomiser Podcast (also available on all podcast platforms) Paul Foster finds himself forced to work with an Alien when both are stranded on the lunar surface, in the UFO episode Survival!
On Wednesday this week’s FAB Fact video went live, looking at the female guest puppets – or lack thereof – available to such productions as Supercar, Captain Scarlet, Terrahawks and Thunderbirds!
Also on Wednesday it was our own Jamie Anderson’s birthday! And look who sent him a card; his favourite Most Special Agent, Joe 90! But what could his promise of a surprise later this month refer to? All will be revealed!
On Friday, the Cartoon Museum in London opened a new display celebrating the works of Gerry Anderson! The Century 21 display, which includes original comics artwork, is open at the Cartoon Museum until June 4th – are you planning a visit? Book your trip here!
The popularity of the recent archive podcast interview with Century 21 Merchandising head Keith Shackleton has inspired a new video series over on the Official Gerry Anderson YouTube channel! Over the next four Saturdays Keith will be telling the Story of the TV21 Comic Empire – and part 1 is now available!
The vinyl version of the Stingray soundtrack album is now available to pre-order from the Official Gerry Anderson Store for estimated delivery in June! Meanwhile, the reduced pre-order price of the upcoming hardback reprint of the 2013 Space:1999 graphic novel To Everything That Was has now ended, so pre-orders are now back to full price! Apologies if you missed out on the saving, but the new 300+ page hardback reprint of To Everything That Was is still available to pre-order from the Official Gerry Anderson Store with shipping expected in mid-April 2023.
Anderson actors with (posthumous) birthdays these week included Thunderbird 6 voice artist John Carson (February 28th 1927) and Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons star Donald Gray (March 3rd 1914), who voiced Colonel White, Captain Black and the Mysterons in the classic 1967 series. Popular Anderson episodes that first aired in the UK this week in years past include Stingray‘s Tom Thumb Tempest, Captain Scarlet’s Flight 104, and UFO’s The Responsibility Seat.
That’s all the news for this week – but stand by for more action next week!
