We know that you can hear us, Earthmen – it’s time for the Gerry Anderson news roundup!
This week’s edition of the Gerry Anderson Podcast launched on Monday, and featured the second part of an interview with Tomorrow People star (and Space:1999 guest actor) Nicholas Young! If you prefer to stick with traditional audio-only rather than our new and improved video format you can still catch it (and all other previous episodes) every week either through our website or via your podcast platform of choice.
Also new this week over on the Gerry Anderson Randomiser Podcast (also available on all podcast platforms) John and Julie set out on their first – and last – mission for The Investigator!
The Gerry Anderson series of the 1960s and 70s have always been fortunate when compared to other shows of that era in that no episodes are missing from any series – but when it comes to You’ve Never Seen This, a rarely seen Anderson series from the mid-1950s, it’s a different story! For a long time only one episode was known to exist, but a chance find last year turned up two complete episodes (released on Blu-ray) and one incomplete episode – the latter of which you can now view for free on our YouTube channel!
Last weekend we were at the Scale ModelWorld event in Telford, showing off our upcoming new Space:1999 premium collectible Eagles (which are now on their way from China!) and one or two Thunderbirds and Stingray surprises! Read our recap of the event here for more info!
Now available to pre-order from the Official Gerry Anderson Store are these new highly detailed, hand painted resin 1:6 scale Bachmann Troy Tempest and Phones Stingray figurines, each approximately 12 inches (30cm) tall, which also come with a numbered certificate and base! They’re a limited edition of 500 units each, so if you want one you’d better make your way to the Official Gerry Anderson store via the ocean door!
Celebrating birthdays this week were UFO actresses Ayshea Brough (November 12th) and Andrea Allan (November 18th) and Space Precinct stars Rob Youngblood (November 13th) and Lou Hirsch (November 15th), while popular episodes that first aired in the UK this week in years past include Stingray’s The Man from the Navy (November 15th 1964), Captain Scarlet’s Operation Time (November 17th 1967), Joe 90’s International Concerto, Terrahawks‘ Close Call (November 12th 1983) and Thunderbirds’ Desperate Intruder (November 18th 1965), with The Adventures of Twizzle first airing on November 13th 1957!
We’ll be back next weekend with another Gerry Anderson news roundup – we will be avenged!
