After almost fifteen years away, Thunderbirds returns to British television this Saturday on Talking Pictures TV!
The channel, which specialises in vintage film and television (mostly British), will be screening Thunderbirds every Saturday at 3pm. The series will form part of the channel’s Saturday afternoon sci-fi lineup, which also includes a B-movie at midday (such as this week’s offering, 1959’s Teenagers from Outer Space) followed by The Outer Limits before Thunderbirds at 3pm.
Thunderbirds will be shown in the original UK broadcast order, using the same restored (and uncropped) prints seen on BritBox. The above trailer includes material from the three new episodes of Thunderbirds produced in 2015 to celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary, although it’s not yet known whether these will form part of the Talking Pictures run.
Fans of Talking Pictures’ sci-fi Saturday afternoons will have noticed that the arrival of Thunderbirds coincides with the disappearance of Fireball XL5, as the latter series was being repeated in the same timeslot and two thirds of the episodes were yet to be screened. Not to worry, as we’re assured Fireball XL5 will return later in the year – while repeats of episodes previously screened continue on Tuesday afternoons at 5.25pm!
So, start the countdown at 3pm this Saturday on Talking Pictures TV – (Virgin 445, Freesat Channel 306, Freeview Channel 82, Youview Channel 82 or on Sky Channel Number 328) – because Thunderbirds are finally go once again!
