Tracy Island Make Competition Results!
We are thrilled to announce the winners and runners-up of our Tracy Island Make Competition at last! We challenged you to make your own Tracy Island model out of household items, materials and rubbish. The contest ran throughout the month of May and we received hundreds of entries. Right from the off we could see that the standard was high right across the board, with photos of Tracy Islands of all shapes and sizes flooding into Anderson Towers.
Choosing the winners and runners-up was never going to be an easy task, but thankfully we received some expert help from legendary Blue Peter presenter Anthea Turner. Anthea is no stranger to Thunderbirds, having created the iconic Blue Peter Tracy Island in the early 1990s. The instructions for the build became the most requested fact-sheet the series ever produced!
So take a seat under a palm tree, grab a nice glass of cool fruit juice and feast your eyes on these FAB creations!
Winners
There wasn’t so much as a whisker to decide between these two, it really was that close as we simply adored both of them! They may look vastly different, but there is something quintessentially Thunderbirds about each entry. In the end we decided they both deserved to win, so lets take a closer look at them!
David Grant
FAB Feature: Dozens of tiny trees and scenic materials really make this island pop. It feels just like a real tropical paradise!
David Ahern
FAB Feature: So much detail on such a small scale. We love how Thunderbird 1 is hidden behind a waterfall!
Runners-Up
In another hard-fought battle, these five entries just missed out on the grand prize. Each of them has something unique and deserving of attention. Only allowing five entries in this category was the toughest decision our judges made.
Matt and Felicity Cresswell-Peters
FAB Feature: The choice of colours makes the island feel remote and rugged!
Charlotte & Amelia Tisdell with Ashley & Rachael Frost
FAB Feature: This island even includes the transmitter tower from Attack of the Alligators!
The Kowalski Family
FAB Feature: One of the largest islands we’ve seen and it even has portraits of the Tracy brothers in the lounge!
Richard Wiseman
FAB Feature: It’s not just eye-catching, it’s also a functional pop-up book!
Henry, Joseph & Nic Clift
FAB Feature: The villa and pool are superb and we approve of the imaginative inclusion of Thunderbird 5!
Congratulations to the winners and a hearty well done to everyone who took the time to enter! We hope you all had as much fun building your Tracy Island as we had seeing the finished versions! We’d love you to share images of your creations to our social media pages and keep everyone up to date on your continuing International Rescue adventures!
